In Ayurveda, mental health is intricately linked to the balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), which are the fundamental bodily bio-elements. Each individual’s mental and physical health is governed by their unique doshic constitution, which influences their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Ayurveda teaches that mental disorders arise when the doshas are imbalanced, leading to disruptions in the natural harmony of the mind and body.

Mental health in Ayurveda is also viewed through the lens of the Gunas (qualities of mind) - Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. Sattva is purity and clarity, promoting harmony and health. Rajas is activity and turbulence, often leading to stress and anxiety. Tamas is inertia and darkness, associated with depression and ignorance. A healthy mind is considered to be one dominated by Sattva, and our treatments aim to enhance Sattva while reducing Rajas and Tamas.
